Peregrine Falcon

Size: 17-20 inches

This bird is one of the fastest animals in the world, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour in a dive. This falcon feeds on birds like ducks and shorebirds. In the Bay Area peregrines are sometimes found nesting on tall rocky cliffs, buildings, and bridges.
