House Finch

Size: 5-5 3/4 inches

If you have a bird feeder in your yard, you are sure to see this bird. The bright red head and chest of the male catches your eye as it moves around your neighborhood singing from perches in backyards and telephone lines.

Food: seeds, fruit, sap, buds

Nest: cup nest, usually in a tree

In Marin: year round
